Introduction
The NASA lawsuit connected with the 1965 Kecksburg incident is often cited as evidence that the US government admitted a cover-up. That is not what the litigation established. Why the judge rejected NASA’s search
The most significant legal outcome was not a finding about Kecksburg itself but about NASA’s compliance with FOIA.
The federal district court noted that NASA had already acknowledged deficiencies in its first two searches. Even after conducting additional searches, the agency failed to convince the court that it had adequately examined every location likely to contain responsive records. What the litigation failed to uncover
Despite frequent claims to the contrary, the lawsuit did not establish that NASA recovered an unknown object or concealed evidence of one.
