  • it survived intense heat without damage;
  • it could not be permanently bent.

Instead, the descriptions emphasise the opposite qualities: the material was light, flimsy and spread over a large area. Former intelligence officer Jesse Marcel became the best-known source for later claims after interviews beginning in the late 1970s.
