Why missing records do not settle the question

Within the broader discussion of satellite debris behind alleged UFO recoveries, Kecksburg demonstrates an important methodological point. Artificial space hardware can indeed generate spectacular fireballs and can legitimately attract military interest, making a Soviet spacecraft an entirely reasonable hypothesis to investigate.

However, reasonable hypotheses still require evidence that survives detailed testing.
